Web Album

Here is a link to an album.

Using photo albums online are an excellent way to share information and pictures with family and friends. It is also great that it can be accessed anywhere there is the internet. Students would enjoy being able to share their photos with friends and family wherever they are.

The picture I chose to edit is a picture of my puppy Tanner. He is a bullpei or half shar pei half bulldog. He is about a year and a half old. I treat him just like a baby.

Crappy Graphics

I do not yet have my own classroom. I have become quite bitter about this in the last few weeks. The chart I created highlights my growing frustration.
Using charts and graphic organizers like a venn diagram is an excellent way to help students remember and process information. Orgaizational charts are especially useful for students who have a learning disability.

Image Capture

I found this image while looking for centerpieces for my wedding. I found it on a wedding planning website. I saved the image and then opened it in paint. The image was of a full table so I cropped what I wanted and then enhanced the colors for my florist to see better.

The image is jpeg and the size is 219 kb.

I would use a similar technique to aquire graphs and charts without

Graphic - Family Tree

This is a graphic I found in a google search. I added the title to the graphic "de arbol genealogico" or family tree. In paint I used the eraser tool to delete some of the background. I chose to use paint because it is an easy program to work with, and I feel comfortable using it. This file is a jpeg file. If I double click on the graphic it opens in a Microsoft slide show. My graphic is 43.1 KB.

In an elementary spanish class, I would use this graphic to help teach family names such as mom, dad, sister and brother. I then would ask students to create their own family tree, encouraging them to be as creative as possible. Students could use technology, bring in a picture, or draw and label their family trees.

Cone of Learning

I was a bit in shock when I read the three pages from this article. A big part of my college education has been spent around developing lessons that get students up and moving. I have heard the quote," Studies show we remember 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear..... over and over again. I was very surprised to learn that there are no numerical facts to support this theory....

FTP

I have never used an FTP before. I do think this is a great way to share information easily. I also think it's a great way to back up files. If my jump drive fails then I could have work saved on the FTP.
my FTP is located at

Simple moments - when things are learned simply? I am working on learning how to navigate in uncharted waters. I have never created an online document, but do see how it could be extremely beneficial.
My completed online document - my current resume... I can't wait until I can put my first teachng job on it!

Technology in the classroom

I must say I do not feel adequate using technology in my future classroom. While student teaching in a fourth grade class, I incorporated internet activities into my lessons. However, these activities were more like watching a video about whatever lesson we were focusing on. I have enjoyed becoming more versed in what there is to do in a classroom concerning technology. I think Skype is amazing! I'm not sure how I would integrate that into my curriculum but I think it's a great tool - maybe in a spanish class students could contact other students in foreign countries and practice their language skills.
I really like the blog. I think this would be a great tool for students to use to publish their writing. Parents, students, and teachers could all have access to my students' writing. I think it's a great tool and hope to incorporate it in my classroom one day.
I look forward to learning more practical strategies and technologies to use in my room!

My First Blog

My first blog - a bit like riding a bike. I must admit, at first I was a bit intimidated but now I am looking forward to posting my thoughts.... if anyone cares to know them! So enjoy! Enjoy my first timid pedals on my brand new bike! Please don't laugh when I fall down, but help me up. I'm sure, soon enough, you won't be able to keep up with me!
